Cebuana Lhuillier is demonstrating how strategic communication can go beyond telling a company’s story to creating value for the people it reaches. Through its workplace, financial education, entrepreneurship, and advocacy platforms, the company uses communication to address real needs, create opportunities, and encourage people to learn, participate, and take action.

This approach earned the company Merit recognition at the 22nd Philippine Quill Awards across four areas: Internal Communication for Amazing KaCebuana; Corporate Social Responsibility for Money Guro and Happiest Pinoy; Government Relations and Public Affairs for its range of Business Support solutions; and Social Media for Money Guro.

For Cebuana Lhuillier President and CEO Jean Henri Lhuillier, effective communication should create value for the people it reaches. “At Cebuana Lhuillier, communication is not just about telling people what we do. It is about creating something useful for the people we serve,” said Lhuillier. “When communication helps an employee feel valued, gives a Filipino knowledge to make better decisions, equips an entrepreneur to grow, or gives people a reason to believe in themselves and each other, then it has done its job.”
Purpose Across Every Platform
That principle is reflected in each of the company’s recognized initiatives, with every platform built around a distinct audience need.

Within the organization, Amazing KaCebu integrates employee engagement into the everyday work experience. Through platforms such as Workvivo and the Corporate News Ngayon newsletter, which connects thousands of employees across the country, along with the Brillo Awards, leadership programs, and the REBEL wellbeing app, employees have more ways to stay informed, be recognized, be heard, and feel supported.

For navigating everyday financial decisions, Money Guro makes financial education more accessible and relatable by turning complex concepts into practical conversations. Through social media, student engagements, workshops, and even Roblox, it brings financial education closer to Filipinos.

Happiest Pinoy takes a different approach, using storytelling to reflect the Filipino experience. Its 2025 campaign moved beyond the search for a single “happiest” Filipino and opened the platform to stories of hope, recovery, and resilience, giving people space to share experiences and find connection through a shared sense of community.

For entrepreneurs, Cebuana Lhuillier’s suite of business support solutions recognizes that capital is only one part of what MSMEs need to grow. Its digital-first ecosystem brings together business education, expert guidance, tools, mentoring, entrepreneur stories, and financial services to help business owners make better decisions and build capability at every stage of their journey.

What connects these initiatives is a simple approach: start with what people need, then find the right way to reach them.

“What makes these initiatives stand out is how each one starts with a clear audience need and translates it into a communication approach that people can relate to and act on,” said Emirosco Michael Sena, First Vice President and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer of Cebuana Lhuillier. “Whether we are engaging our employees, simplifying financial concepts, supporting entrepreneurs, or telling stories of resilience, we look at the right message, platform, and format for each audience. The Merit Awards validate that approach and the work of our teams in turning strong ideas into programs that deliver results.”
Communication That Moves People
Organized by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines, the Philippine Quill Awards recognize excellence in business communication, including strategic thinking, creative execution, and results.

For Cebuana Lhuillier, the recognition reinforces the role communication can play beyond corporate messaging. Done with purpose, it can help employees feel connected, make knowledge more accessible, strengthen entrepreneurs, and create space for stories that matter.

Ultimately, the goal is not simply to be heard. It is to create communication that leaves people with something they can use, act on, or carry forward.
