Building on its track record as the country’s leading food business incubator, Mercato Centrale proudly launched The Next Big Food Entrepreneur (NBFE) 2026, its flagship nationwide program aimed at helping aspiring food founders transform their ideas into market-ready and sustainable businesses.

More than just a competition, NBFE 2026 delivered a rigorous four-stage journey designed to test, refine, and elevate emerging food brands:

Digital Sift – The nationwide open call kicked off on February 18, 2026, inviting aspiring entrepreneurs to submit a 30–40 second video via Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok. Participants showcased their product, inspiration, and brand vision using the hashtag #NBFE2026Entry. For those unable to submit video entries, an alternative online application was also made available. Entries were accepted until March 17, 2026.

Tasting Table – Ten shortlisted food brands were invited to present their creations to selected foodies and key opinion leaders. Beyond taste, the session spotlighted founder stories and each brand’s market potential—offering a glimpse of the country’s next crowd favorites.

Test Kitchen – Finalists advanced to an exclusive bootcamp under Mercato Academy, in partnership with De La Salle–College of St. Benilde. Hosted at the School of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management (SHRIM), participants gained hands-on training in food costing, branding, operations, and go-to-market strategy. Resource speakers included experts from SHRIM, GoNegosyo, GCash for Business, and Mercato Centrale.

The Spread – The program culminated in a vibrant, multi-sensory grand finale on April 18, 2026, held at Mercato Centrale Bridgetowne, Mercato’s largest location. The Top 10 finalists showcased and sold their concepts directly to the public, allowing food lovers to experience potential breakout brands firsthand.
