149 employee-volunteers join International Coastal Cleanup while 2GO provides supplies and logistics support across the country
For communities living along the Philippine coastline, keeping the shore clean is more than an environmental responsibility—it is part of protecting places where families live, work, fish, travel, and spend time together.
This year, 149 employee-volunteers from 2GO Group, Inc. took that responsibility beyond the workplace as they joined the annual International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) in partnership with SM Cares.
2GO employees participated in cleanup activities in Cagayan de Oro, Zamboanga, Davao, Cebu, and Manila, lending their time and effort to help remove waste from coastal areas and support cleaner communities.
In Manila alone, 2GO volunteers collected 207 kilograms of waste from cleanup sites. Across all participating locations, the company estimates that its volunteers helped divert approximately 768 kilograms of coastal waste.
For the volunteers, the effort meant stepping away from their usual work routines and spending time together on the shoreline—picking up waste, sorting what was collected, and seeing firsthand the importance of caring for the coastal environments that connect communities throughout the country.
More Than Showing Up
2GO’s contribution to the International Coastal Cleanup extends beyond volunteer participation.
Since beginning its partnership with SM Cares in 2023, the company has continued to provide resources and logistics support for the annual initiative.
For this year’s cleanup, 2GO donated protective gloves for volunteers, following its previous contributions of cleanup sacks in 2024 and 2025.
The company also provided end-to-end transportation and logistics support for heavy-duty weighing scales used at cleanup sites nationwide. Building on logistical assistance introduced in 2025, the service helped ensure that collected waste could be weighed and documented accurately across participating locations.
These may seem like practical details behind the cleanup, but they are essential to making a nationwide activity work—from getting the right supplies to the people who need them to ensuring that collected waste can be properly measured and recorded.
Connecting People and Communities
As a transportation and logistics company whose operations span the Philippine archipelago, 2GO has a natural connection to the country’s coastal communities.
Its ships, logistics networks, employees, and customers move between communities that are closely linked to the country’s waterways and shorelines. Supporting coastal cleanup therefore becomes an extension of the company’s relationship with the communities it serves.
By bringing together people, supplies, and logistics capabilities, 2GO is contributing to a collective effort that goes beyond a single cleanup day.
The International Coastal Cleanup also offers employees an opportunity to see environmental stewardship from a more personal perspective. Each piece of waste removed from the shoreline represents a small contribution, while hundreds of volunteers working together demonstrate what communities can accomplish through collective action.
For 2GO, continued participation in the ICC reflects its commitment to using not only its people, but also its resources and logistics capabilities, to support environmental initiatives across the Philippines.
Because cleaner coastlines are not simply about cleaner shores. They are about helping protect the communities, livelihoods, and places that connect Filipinos from one island to another.
